Demystifying Behavioral Interviews

Behavioral interviewing is an integral part of the interview process. Many interviewers ask behavioral questions to obtain on-the-job examples of how a candidate has handled certain work-related situations or has demonstrated the use of a soft skill. Why ask these types of questions? Because it is believed that past behavior is a predictor of future behavior. Interviewers will most likely be looking for examples and stories that will point to success in their culture, and they will probe to determine if the candidate has exhibited specific types of behaviors before. By understanding and preparing to answer behavioral interview questions, both the potential employer and you – the candidate – can assess if there is a good match.
