References Can Help to Get You Hired
References can be among your most valuable resources. Why? Because they can be the difference between you landing a job – or not. Based on who you ask and what they have to say about you, your references can be a positive asset, and can convincingly demonstrate your suitability for a job. Attend this session to learn how to select and prepare your references to help “tip the scales” in your favor.
What is Kick-Off Monday: Kick-Off Monday is a motivational, educational, and networking program designed to help you prepare for the week ahead, sharing conversation, contacts, and job-search information in a relaxed, friendly environment. It is a “place to go” to focus on your job search or career transition and network with others. Sessions are free and LIVE in-person at the Tampa Bay Job Links office of Gulf Coast JFCS. Registration is required.

Goals:
- Kick-start your week with renewed energy and focus
- Learn job-search and career transition skills and strategies from experts
- Practice your 30-second commercial in a relaxed, safe environment
- Exchange ideas, information, and experiences with others
- Ask job-search questions
- Create an action plan for the week

- Individual action plans for the week
Materials Needed: No materials are needed.
Program Length: 1½ hours 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM. Participants should plan to arrive 15 minutes early. The program will begin and end on time.
Who Should Attend: Unemployed and underemployed individuals who want to prepare and focus their job-search plan for the week in a welcoming environment.
